R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have been an

 1-2     institution in the Lone Star State for 25 years, and their

 1-3     association with Texas is truly unique; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Established in 1972 by Cowboys owner and founder Tex

 1-5     Schramm, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders helped to usher in a new

 1-6     era of entertainment in professional sports; their fine-tuned

 1-7     choreography has complemented the gridiron excellence of their

 1-8     namesake, and their dazzling presence has added to the glamour and

 1-9     legendary mystique of the Cowboys organization; and

1-10           WHEREAS, The phenomenon that is the Dallas Cowboys

1-11     Cheerleaders received a big boost in 1976, when a Super Bowl X

1-12     television camera captured the smiling faces of those young ladies;

1-13     soon, millions of sports fans around the world were as taken with

1-14     "America's Sweethearts" as they were devoted to "America's Team";

1-15     and

1-16           WHEREAS, In the years since then, these talented and

1-17     dedicated young women have entertained countless football fans with

1-18     their exciting and inventive halftime routines; in addition to

1-19     showing their support at the team's home games, the Dallas Cowboys

1-20     Cheerleaders spend much of the off-season traveling the nation and

1-21     the world to make charity appearances and support the USO; and

1-22           WHEREAS, During their first quarter century, the Dallas

1-23     Cowboys Cheerleaders have displayed great poise both on and off the

1-24     field while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism

 2-1     and excellence, and the members of this chamber are proud to honor

 2-2     the many noteworthy women, past and present, who have  served as

 2-3     members of this select group; now, therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby honor the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and extend

 2-6     to them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in

 2-7     the years to come; and, be it further

 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-9     prepared for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders as an expression of

2-10     high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
