R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Both as a businessman and as a civic leader, Floyd

 1-2     Bean has contributed greatly to the betterment of the Dallas

 1-3     community, and his receipt of an award from the Texas Legislative

 1-4     Black Caucus provides a most fitting opportunity to honor him for

 1-5     his many significant contributions; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Mr. Bean developed much of his corporate savvy as

 1-7     director of minority franchising for Bonanza Steakhouse

 1-8     Restaurants, where his  training took him around the country, and

 1-9     since 1971, he has been proprietor of Catfish Floyd's Restaurant in

1-10     Dallas; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Countless individuals enjoyed his delicious cuisine

1-12     at the World's Fair during the early 1980s and for more than two

1-13     decades, he has operated concessions at the State Fair of Texas,

1-14     and he currently holds a concession contract with the Dallas

1-15     Independent School District; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Mr. Bean contributes greatly to the community as the

1-17     employer of more than 50 people; despite the many demands of his

1-18     profession, he has given generously of his time and talents to many

1-19     worthy causes in the area and currently serves as a director for

1-20     the YMCA; and

1-21           WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he has been sustained by his

1-22     deep faith as a devout member of the Highland Hills United

1-23     Methodist Church, where he has worshipped for the past 30 years;

1-24     and

 2-1           WHEREAS, Floyd Bean has enhanced the quality of life in the

 2-2     Dallas area in numerous ways, and his exceptional commitment is a

 2-3     source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know him; now,

 2-4     therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-6     Legislature hereby honor Floyd Bean for his exemplary professional

 2-7     and civic involvement and extend to him heartfelt congratulations

 2-8     on his receipt of an award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus;

 2-9     and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-11     prepared for Mr. Bean as an expression of high regard by the Texas

2-12     House of Representatives.
