R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Participants in the Texas Legislative Internship

 1-2     Program, under the leadership of Senator Rodney Ellis, will host

 1-3     the 1997 Youth Town Hall Meeting on April 26, 1997, in Austin; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, This commendable program will bring together between

 1-5     150 and 175 historically disadvantaged youths to discuss methods of

 1-6     obtaining academic, economic, political, and social power within

 1-7     the framework of today's society; to this end, the meeting will

 1-8     feature a distinguished panel of guest speakers representing  a

 1-9     wide range of fields, including academia, business, politics, and

1-10     social science; and

1-11           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives commends the

1-12     goals and objectives of the 1997 Youth Town Hall Meeting and

1-13     welcomes the opportunity to provide a setting for its participants'

1-14     activities; now, therefore, be it

1-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-16     Legislature, in accordance with the rules and policies of the

1-17     Committee on House Administration, hereby grant permission to the

1-18     Texas Legislative Internship Program to use the house chamber for

1-19     the 1997 Youth Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, April 26, 1997, from

1-20     10 a.m. to 3 p.m., provided that the house is not in session.
