By Gutierrez H.R. No. 658 75R11500 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The residents of Hidalgo County and the city of 1-2 McAllen owe a great debt of gratitude to H. F. "Beto" Longoria for 1-3 the many significant contributions he has made to the betterment of 1-4 this fine region; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Among Mr. Longoria's numerous accomplishments are 1-6 nine years of service on the City of McAllen International Toll 1-7 Bridge Board of Trustees from 1985 to 1994, during which time he 1-8 served two terms as vice chairman of this essential governing 1-9 board; he was instrumental in the planning stage of the Bridge 1-10 Expansion Project and was highly involved with the planning and 1-11 construction of the new port facility; and 1-12 WHEREAS, From 1975 to 1983, this dedicated individual was an 1-13 active member of the Board of Commissioners of the City of McAllen; 1-14 as a city commissioner, Mr. Longoria capably represented his fellow 1-15 citizens in many important policy decisions affecting the quality 1-16 of life in his community; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This exemplary Texan has also served on the 1-18 Firemen's Pension Board, chairing that body for two of his four 1-19 years of service, and as McAllen's representative on the Lower Rio 1-20 Grande Valley Development Council and the Inter-American Relations 1-21 Council; his long list of appointments further includes an 11-year 1-22 membership on the Hospital Board, with four years in the capacity 1-23 of vice chairman, and a one-year tenure on the Board of 1-24 Equalization; and 2-1 WHEREAS, H. F. "Beto" Longoria remains a respected resident 2-2 of McAllen today, and his many years of service to the citizens of 2-3 the Rio Grande Valley are indeed deserving of special legislative 2-4 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby commend H. F. "Beto" Longoria for his longtime 2-7 community service and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-8 continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. Longoria as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
