                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, For more than 20 years, students at Mission High

 1-2     School have benefited from an innovative law enforcement training

 1-3     program that opens up new vistas of career opportunity, and this

 1-4     program is indeed deserving of legislative praise and recognition;

 1-5     and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, the program enables students to

 1-7     gain real world insight and experience in the challenging fields of

 1-8     law enforcement, criminal justice, and corrections, thus giving

 1-9     them an educated base from which to make important career

1-10     decisions;  under the astute direction of founder Robert A.

1-11     Salinas, the program has grown from 60 students in 1975 to 250

1-12     students this year, and one graduate of the program, Sandra

1-13     Rodriguez, has returned as a teacher; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Students participating in this year's program are:

1-15     Jessica Quintanilla, Siomara Martinez, Jorge Ornelas, Jose Sanchez,

1-16     Jose De Leon, Humberto De La Garza, Edgar Rios, Maricela Rocio,

1-17     Gaby Villarreal, Able Trevino, Herman Cantu, Glenda Guardiola,

1-18     Nelly Gallegos, Rance Warschak, Mary Ann Fonseca, Edith Martinez,

1-19     Patricia Garcia, Maggie Rodriguez, Lydia Reyna, Cynthia Zapata,

1-20     Sabrina Hernandez, Jessica De Luna, Sergio Solis, Erika Castaneda,

1-21     Pricilla Longoria, Maricruz Villarreal, Albert Muzquiz, Margarito

1-22     Flores, Arasely Duran, Hector Sanchez, Domingo De La Garza, Liliana

1-23     Avellano, Tim Repka, Humberto Guerra, Victor De La Garza, and Art

1-24     Garcia; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, One of the highlights of the school's program is a

 2-2     field trip to Austin to visit the Texas Department of Public

 2-3     Safety, the Austin Police Department, the Travis County Jail, and

 2-4     other sites of interest; the members of this chamber are pleased to

 2-5     have the opportunity during this year's visit to honor these fine

 2-6     young people and to recognize this program for its many

 2-7     contributions to the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby commend all those associated with the Mission

2-10     High School Law Enforcement Program and extend to them warmest best

2-11     wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further

2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-13     prepared for the program's teachers, students, and administrators

2-14     as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of

2-15     Representatives.
