No. 672 75R12477 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Earl Williams has been named "Small Business Person 1-2 of the Year" by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, and this 1-3 prestigious honor is indeed well-deserved; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This accomplished businessman began his career with 1-5 The Bootery in 1955 as a part-time stock clerk; his diligent 1-6 efforts and keen business acumen ultimately enabled him to become 1-7 the owner of the store, and under his leadership The Bootery has 1-8 become a thriving enterprise; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A dynamic force in community affairs as well, 1-10 Mr. Williams serves as a board member of the Juvenile Justice 1-11 Center, Restitution Center, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, and 1-12 King's Kids Outreach; chairman of the Public Housing Authority 1-13 Board for the past several years, he is also a member of the 1-14 Abilene Chamber of Commerce, the Black Chamber of Commerce, and the 1-15 Kiwanis Club of Abilene, which named him "Kiwanian of the Year" in 1-16 1988; and 1-17 WHEREAS, He shares his faith as an active member of Mount 1-18 Zion Baptist Church, where he has served the congregation as a 1-19 deacon, trustee, and finance board member; Mr. Williams, his wife, 1-20 Wynell, and their three children, Rodney, Michael and Janell, were 1-21 honored by the church in 1973 when they were recognized as the 1-22 "Church Family of the Year"; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Earl Williams has shown exemplary dedication to his 1-24 community as a business leader and as a supporter of many worthy 2-1 civic concerns, and it is indeed fitting that he be given special 2-2 legislative recognition in light of his most recent honor; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate Earl Williams on his selection as 2-6 "Small Business Person of the Year" by the Abilene Chamber of 2-7 Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 2-8 success in the future; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
