                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 30, 1997, Ruby J. Yancy is retiring as a

 1-2     member of the custodial staff of the Houston Independent School

 1-3     District, drawing to a close a noteworthy career that has spanned

 1-4     nearly three decades of service to her community; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, In recognition of Ms. Yancy's remarkable tenure, the

 1-6     school district is hosting a retirement reception in her honor on

 1-7     May 21, 1997; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Ms. Yancy began her association with the district 29

 1-9     years ago, and she has been a valued staff member of Durkee

1-10     Elementary School for the past 25 years; during her tenure, she has

1-11     been called on to perform a wide variety of tasks and has always

1-12     accomplished her duties with the same attention to detail and

1-13     diligence that have characterized her service since the day she

1-14     began her employment; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Through the years, Ms. Yancy's genuine sense of

1-16     commitment to her work has earned her the respect and admiration of

1-17     many people, and it is indeed appropriate that she receive special

1-18     legislative recognition on the momentous occasion of her

1-19     retirement; now, therefore, be it

1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-21     Legislature hereby honor Ruby J. Yancy for her outstanding tenure

1-22     with the Houston Independent School District and extend to her

1-23     warmest best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be

1-24     it further

 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-2     prepared for Ms. Yancy as an expression of high regard by the Texas

 2-3     House of Representatives.
