R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of German Carvajal on April 22, 1997, at
1-2 the age of 102, has brought a great loss to the family and many
1-3 friends of this esteemed Karnes City resident; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Carvajal was born October 23, 1894, to Ciprano
1-5 and Manuela Carvajal at La Havana Ranch near San Diego, Texas; he
1-6 married the lovely Jesusa Morales on November 28, 1920, and the
1-7 couple nurtured a deeply fulfilling union until her passing; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Carvajal was a valued employee of the City of
1-9 Kenedy and the E. P. Rogers Cotton Gin, and he also supported his
1-10 family as a plumber; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Through the years, he maintained an active
1-12 involvement in the community as a member of the Woodmen of the
1-13 World, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the American
1-14 G.I. Forum, and El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church; and
1-15 WHEREAS, German Carvajal touched the lives of many people
1-16 during his lifetime, and though his special presence will be deeply
1-17 missed, his memory will long endure in the hearts and minds of all
1-18 who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-20 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of German Carvajal and
1-21 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
1-22 children, Ciprano Carvajal, Sr., Abelio Carvajal, Victoria
1-23 Zambrano, Frances Zertuche, Aurelia Wier, Eliza Saenz, and Elodia
1-24 Loya; to his 20 grandchildren; to his 42 great-grandchildren; to
2-1 his five great-great-grandchildren; and to his many other friends
2-2 and relatives; and, be it further
2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-4 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-5 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-6 German Carvajal.
