No. 721 75R9212 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Ray Morrison of Alpine on October 24, 1-2 1996, at the age of 83, brought a great loss to the family and many 1-3 friends of this esteemed Texan; and 1-4 WHEREAS, He was widely known throughout the community as the 1-5 manager of the C. G. Morrison store for many years, and his keen 1-6 business acumen helped to establish the enterprise as a fixture in 1-7 the area; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Despite the numerous demands of his profession, 1-9 Mr. Morrison consistently made time in his busy schedule to work 1-10 for the betterment of his community, and he gave generously of his 1-11 time, talent, and resources to assist several charitable and civic 1-12 organizations; and 1-13 WHEREAS, He was also well known for his commitment to Sul 1-14 Ross State University as a member of the Century Club, and he could 1-15 often be found cheering on his team at the school's sporting 1-16 events; his efforts as a booster earned him lasting recognition, 1-17 for he was inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Honor in 1-18 1992; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Ray Morrison left an indelible mark on the community 1-20 he was proud to call home, and though he is gone from us now, his 1-21 memory endures in the hearts and minds of all who were privileged 1-22 to know him; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ray Morrison and 2-1 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-2 beloved wife of 59 years, Mozelle Morrison; to his sons, Lawrence 2-3 J. Morrison and Sammy L. Morrison; to his brother, Ernest Morrison; 2-4 to his sister, Virginia Yoder; to his two grandchildren; and to the 2-5 many other friends and relatives of this fine gentleman; and, be it 2-6 further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-9 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-10 Ray Morrison.
