R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
1-2 congratulate James M. Greer on his receipt of a scholarship from
1-3 the National Achievement Scholarship Program for Outstanding Negro
1-4 Students; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A senior at Dunbar High School's magnet program, the
1-6 High School for Science and Engineering Professions, Mr. Greer is
1-7 a member of the National Honor Society, and he has received
1-8 numerous awards for academic achievement from his school through
1-9 the years; and
1-10 WHEREAS, He has balanced the rigorous demands of his course
1-11 load with involvement in extracurricular activities; the captain of
1-12 the school's varsity swim team and a member of the varsity soccer
1-13 team, he also participates in Junior Statesmen of America; and
1-14 WHEREAS, This fine young man has been recognized by
1-15 organizations at the local and national levels for his academic
1-16 skills; he has been a Tandy Scholar since the ninth grade and is a
1-17 nominee for both the National Leadership Merit Award and the
1-18 National Honor Roll; and
1-19 WHEREAS, For the past two summers, he has been a START
1-20 Program Intern at the University of North Texas Health Science
1-21 Center, where he has been well regarded for his hard work and
1-22 dedication; and
1-23 WHEREAS, Upon high school graduation, Mr. Greer plans to
1-24 study business administration, and his academic excellence thus far
2-1 has helped to lay the groundwork for continued achievement in the
2-2 future; and
2-3 WHEREAS, James Greer has demonstrated exceptional
2-4 intelligence, initiative, and maturity in successfully pursuing his
2-5 academic and career goals, and it is truly a pleasure to recognize
2-6 him on the occasion of his most recent honor; now, therefore, be it
2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate James M. Greer on his receipt of a
2-9 scholarship from the National Achievement Scholarship Program for
2-10 Outstanding Negro Students and extend to him warmest best wishes
2-11 for continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors;
2-12 and, be it further
2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14 prepared for Mr. Greer as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-15 House of Representatives.
