R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Kathryn Baney achieved a remarkable feat recently 1-2 when she scored a perfect 1600 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test 1-3 (SAT), and this rare achievement is indeed deserving of special 1-4 legislative recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Ms. Baney is a junior at Longview High School, where 1-6 she is a member of the school's Academic Decathlon team and 1-7 competes in University Interscholastic League writing competitions, 1-8 and her outstanding leadership skills and writing abilities 1-9 recently earned her the position of editor of the school newspaper; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, The daughter of Jackie and Richard Baney, Ms. Baney 1-12 first took the SAT when she was in the seventh grade, participating 1-13 in Duke University's prestigious Talent Identification Program; her 1-14 score of 1250 at that time earned her national honors and would 1-15 have been high enough to earn her admission into most colleges and 1-16 universities in the nation; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman plans to attend college 1-18 to study journalism and possibly law, and her career ambition is to 1-19 become a newspaper or magazine editor; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Kathryn Baney has displayed exceptional maturity, 1-21 intelligence, and determination in pursuit of her academic and 1-22 career goals; she is undoubtedly one of our state's most promising 1-23 up-and-coming leaders, and it is a privilege to honor her at this 1-24 time; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby commend Kathryn Baney on her exceptional 2-3 scholastic achievement and extend to her warmest best wishes for 2-4 continued success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Ms. Baney as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-7 House of Representatives.
