R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor

 1-2     White Oak High School on placing first in the 1997 University

 1-3     Interscholastic League (UIL) District 16-3A Literary Meet; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Participants from White Oak High School who earned

 1-5     medals for their efforts include Andy Spencer, Meredith Wilson,

 1-6     Hannah Brown, Jessica Baker, Jennifer Stroman, Amanda Harvey,

 1-7     Bronwen Anderson, Krystal Elrod, Carrie Cappel, Jason Folmar,

 1-8     Leslie Moeller, Kathleen Cassin, Lesley Lawrence, Dominic Baker,

 1-9     Kyle Overstreet, Ryan Matson, Mandy Mitchell, Meagan Brown, Amy

1-10     Goodson, David Mitchell, Jamie Henigsmith, Josh Witt, Jon

1-11     Hollingsworth, Kevin Hollingsworth, Lauren Bedsole, Jason Brint, Ty

1-12     Tyner, Casey Eastman, and Casey Eastepp; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Helping the students perform to the best of their

1-14     ability were the following dedicated sponsors: Gayle Alexander,

1-15     Jennifer White, Malcolm Wright, Suzanne Bardwell, Peggy Bowne, Judy

1-16     Spivey, Glenda Moeller, Lynan Day, Kathy Parker, Debbie Rasberry,

1-17     and Joy Reeves; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Students from White Oak High School who participate

1-19     in the literary competition carry on a long and proud tradition for

1-20     their alma mater, which has earned the UIL overall academic title

1-21     31 times in 33 years; this sterling record of success is rivaled

1-22     only by the extraordinary accomplishments of the school's

1-23     graduates, many of whom have gone on to attain significant

1-24     academic, professional, and personal success; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, The talent, determination, and intelligence

 2-2     exhibited by these outstanding young Texans in their pursuit of

 2-3     excellence has set standards to which all students can aspire, and

 2-4     their exceptional achievements are indeed worthy of special

 2-5     legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it

 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-7     Legislature hereby congratulate all of the UIL participants of

 2-8     White Oak High School, their teachers, and their  parents for the

 2-9     school's first-place showing in the District 16-3A Literary Meet

2-10     and extend sincere best wishes to these exceptional students for

2-11     success at the next level of competition; and, be it further

2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-13     prepared for prominent display at White Oak High School as an

2-14     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
