R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Deanne Marie Dunbar

 1-2     Buchanan were deeply saddened by her death on February 2, 1997, at

 1-3     the age of 58, and the members of the Texas House of

 1-4     Representatives join them in mourning her passing; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A teacher for nearly four decades, Mrs. Buchanan

 1-6     began her career in 1959, and she taught at Judson Elementary

 1-7     School and Hudson PEP before joining the staff of Trinity School of

 1-8     Texas in 1983; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Highly regarded for her integrity, professionalism,

1-10     and dedication to her students, Mrs. Buchanan became dean of

1-11     academic affairs, and in that position she continually drew on her

1-12     creativity to develop new academic challenges and opportunities;

1-13     and

1-14           WHEREAS, Students and colleagues alike were drawn by her

1-15     honesty and her straightforward manner, for although she set high

1-16     standards of achievement for herself and others, she was always

1-17     there to offer encouragement and recognition to anyone needing her

1-18     support; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Deanne Marie Dunbar Buchanan truly embodied the

1-20     spirit of service and commitment that is the hallmark of a great

1-21     teacher; she made a real and lasting difference in the lives of

1-22     countless students, and the success of those students will endure

1-23     as a living testimony to the importance of her life's work; now,

1-24     therefore, be it

 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-2     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deanne Marie Dunbar

 2-3     Buchanan and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family:

 2-4     to her husband, Howard Buchanan; to her two sons, Barry Buchanan

 2-5     and Kevin Buchanan; to her daughter, Susan Buchanan Jones; to her

 2-6     five grandchildren; and to all the relatives, friends, colleagues,

 2-7     and students of this remarkable woman; and, be it further

 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-9     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas

2-10     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-11     Deanne Marie Dunbar Buchanan.
