R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Holly Wilkerson for her many achievements and congratulate her on
1-3 her graduation from Gregory-Portland High School on May 22, 1997;
1-4 and
1-5 WHEREAS, Ranked in the top two percent of her class,
1-6 Ms. Wilkerson has successfully balanced the rigorous demands of her
1-7 course load with a host of extracurricular activities; she has
1-8 served in leadership capacities with her class, the student
1-9 council, and numerous campus clubs, and has also been involved in
1-10 the school's special education, Operation Graduation, drug free,
1-11 and mentor tutor programs; and
1-12 WHEREAS, A talented athlete, Ms. Wilkerson has played varsity
1-13 tennis for four years, advancing to regional competition while in
1-14 her freshman year; cocaptain of the varsity cheerleading squad as
1-15 well, she has been featured as Cheerleader of the Month in American
1-16 Cheerleader magazine and has been named All Star Cheerleader; and
1-17 WHEREAS, In addition, this remarkable young woman has been
1-18 honored as a scholar athlete and has been selected to the All South
1-19 Texas Athletic Academic Team and the All State Academic Team; both
1-20 Homecoming Queen and County A&H Show Queen, she has also been
1-21 recognized as the Optimist's Outstanding Student Youth and has been
1-22 a state qualifier in competitions sponsored by the Business
1-23 Professionals of America and the Future Homemakers of America; and
1-24 WHEREAS, Though her studies and involvement in school
2-1 activities keep her quite busy, Ms. Wilkerson has consistently made
2-2 time in her schedule to assist several worthy organizations in the
2-3 community, including the March of Dimes, the Christian and Jews
2-4 Leadership Conference, the local chamber of commerce, and the First
2-5 United Methodist Church, and her stalwart commitment has earned her
2-6 the heartfelt gratitude of many individuals; and
2-7 WHEREAS, Holly Wilkerson has demonstrated exceptional
2-8 intelligence, initiative, and maturity in successfully pursuing a
2-9 variety of academic and personal goals, and she is indeed deserving
2-10 of special legislative recognition for her remarkable achievements;
2-11 now, therefore, be it
2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-13 Legislature hereby congratulate Holly Wilkerson on her graduation
2-14 from Gregory-Portland High School and extend to her warmest best
2-15 wishes for continued success and happiness in all her future
2-16 endeavors; and, be it further
2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-18 prepared for Ms. Wilkerson as an expression of high regard by the
2-19 Texas House of Representatives.
