R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Lufkin High School Living Skills Program has 1-2 been chosen to receive the Governor's Award for Environmental 1-3 Excellence, and this prestigious honor is indeed well-deserved; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Sponsored by Governor George W. Bush and the Texas 1-5 Natural Resource Conservation Commission, the awards program was 1-6 initiated to recognize the most outstanding environmental pollution 1-7 prevention projects in the state; and 1-8 WHEREAS, From a field of more than 300 worthy applicants, 12 1-9 winners were selected, and the Lufkin High School Living Skills 1-10 Program was deemed to be the finest entrant in the youth category 1-11 by a diverse blue-ribbon selection committee; and 1-12 WHEREAS, In recognition of their remarkable achievement, 1-13 Lufkin High School and other award winners will be honored at a 1-14 banquet on April 29, 1997, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Austin; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, The State of Texas is blessed with an abundance of 1-17 natural resources that add to its scenic splendor, and the 1-18 prevention of pollution is a key aspect to safeguarding our state's 1-19 bounty for generations of Texans to come; the Lufkin High School 1-20 Living Skills Program helps to fulfill that vital goal, and it is 1-21 indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby honor the participants in the Lufkin High School 2-1 Living Skills Program on winning the Governor's Award for 2-2 Environmental Excellence; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for prominent display at Lufkin High School as an 2-5 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
