R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Ford Allen of Incarnate Word Academy for his remarkable legacy of
1-3 excellence as a basketball player for that fine institution; and
1-4 WHEREAS, During his senior season with Incarnate Word, he
1-5 averaged a phenomenal 21.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, and
1-6 led his team to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial
1-7 Schools (TAPPS) Class 5A semifinals; in addition, Mr. Allen scored
1-8 41 points during a game in his senior season, setting a new school
1-9 record; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Among the many well-deserved accolades he has
1-11 received in recognition of his basketball prowess are being named a
1-12 TAPPS South All-Star as both a junior and senior, second team
1-13 all-state as a junior, and first team all-state, district most
1-14 valuable player, and all-state tournament team as a senior; the
1-15 crowning achievement of his high school career also came during his
1-16 senior year when he was selected by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times
1-17 as ALL SOUTH TEXAS MOST VALUABLE PLAYER; and
1-18 WHEREAS, This determined young man plans to continue his
1-19 basketball career at the collegiate level, and hopes to wear the
1-20 orange and white as a member of The University of Texas basketball
1-21 squad; and
1-22 WHEREAS, Ford Allen exemplifies the qualities of discipline
1-23 and dedication that are at the core of every successful athlete,
1-24 and his many notable achievements in this regard truly make him
2-1 worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now,
2-2 therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Ford Allen on his extraordinary
2-5 athletic accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2-6 continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-8 prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-9 House of Representatives.
