No. 750 75R12776 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Deborah Joyce Gilliam Dixon on April 1-2 10, 1997, has brought a great loss to the family and many friends 1-3 of this esteemed Dallas resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The eldest child of William and Kathlyn Gilliam, 1-5 Mrs. Dixon developed a love of singing in her youth; she secretly 1-6 appointed herself a member of her mother's Fuller Melodies singing 1-7 group, and after stealing the show at one of their concerts, she 1-8 became fondly known as the little girl with the big, melodious 1-9 voice; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Dixon attended Texas Woman's University, where 1-11 she furthered her interest in singing both as a music major and as 1-12 a member of the college's famed Choraliers, and toured with that 1-13 group to the North Atlantic, the Orient, Germany, and the 1-14 Caribbean; and 1-15 WHEREAS, After marrying her college sweetheart, Limuel Dixon, 1-16 she embarked on a rewarding career with Texas Oil Company; she 1-17 later was employed with the Hasty Corporation, where she was well 1-18 regarded for her expertise and strong work ethic and became a 1-19 cherished friend of many of her coworkers; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Deborah Dixon touched the lives of countless 1-21 individuals during her years on this earth, and though her special 1-22 presence will be deeply missed, her memory will long endure in the 1-23 hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be 1-24 it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deborah Joyce Gilliam 2-3 Dixon and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to 2-4 her husband, Limuel Dixon; to her parents, William and Kathlyn 2-5 Gilliam; to her brother, Edward Gilliam; to her sister, Constance 2-6 Harris; to her grandmothers, Annibelle Mahone and Lucille 2-7 Christian; and to her many other friends and relatives; and, be it 2-8 further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-11 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-12 Deborah Joyce Gilliam Dixon.
