                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The recent passing of Roger D. Wilson on March 25,

 1-2     1997, at the age of 53, has brought a great loss to the family and

 1-3     many friends of this beloved gentleman; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Born in Houston on January 14, 1944, Mr. Wilson and

 1-5     his family moved to Palacios in August 1951; after graduating from

 1-6     Palacios High School in 1961, he continued his education at Wharton

 1-7     County Junior College, the University of Houston, and The

 1-8     University of Texas at Austin; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, On June 12, 1964, Mr. Wilson was united in marriage

1-10     with the former Geneva Kay Bram, and the couple enjoyed a strong

1-11     and rewarding marriage filled with many happy family memories;

1-12     during the first five years of his marriage, this noteworthy

1-13     gentleman worked as an internal audit specialist for Bank of

1-14     Southwest Houston before the family relocated to Palacios; and

1-15           WHEREAS, The 1994 Palacios Chamber of Commerce Man of the

1-16     Year, Mr. Wilson was an active member of the First United Methodist

1-17     Church of Palacios, serving as treasurer for that organization from

1-18     1970 to 1986; he was also a member of the Palacios Library's board

1-19     of directors and the board of trustees of the Palacios Independent

1-20     School District and served for three years on the legislative

1-21     network for the Texas Association of School Boards; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Roger D. Wilson was a man of integrity and

1-23     compassion, and although he will be missed by those individuals who

1-24     knew and loved him, his spirit will surely live on in the hearts

 2-1     and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now,

 2-2     therefore, be it

 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-4     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roger D. Wilson and

 2-5     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,

 2-6     Geneva Bram Wilson; to his parents, S. Woodrow and Alice Wilson; to

 2-7     his daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Steve Cooper, Rhonda

 2-8     and Hank Huitt, and Lori and John Armatta; to his son and

 2-9     daughter-in-law, Steven and Gina Wilson; to his sister and

2-10     brother-in-law, Marion and James Holcomb; to his grandchildren,

2-11     Alexis and Shelby Cooper, Bryson Slone Huitt, and Sydney Lynn

2-12     Armatta; and to the many other relatives and friends of this

2-13     esteemed gentleman; and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-15     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-16     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-17     Roger D.  Wilson.
