                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On March 24, 1997, Dr. Sandra Mayo was inducted into

 1-2     the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame, and this occasion is truly

 1-3     deserving of special legislative recognition; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, A graduate of Syracuse University, the University of

 1-5     Buffalo, and Buffalo University, Dr. Mayo was honored for her work

 1-6     in the field of creative arts; in addition to her involvement with

 1-7     the San Antonio Symphony's Music Advancement Program, she has also

 1-8     supported the arts as a board member of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts

 1-9     Center and the National Association of Theater and Higher

1-10     Education; and

1-11           WHEREAS, This devoted professional currently serves as

1-12     interim dean of arts and sciences at St. Philip's College, where

1-13     she has previously acted as director of theater and fine arts, and

1-14     she has taught speech, theater, and English at other prestigious

1-15     universities, including the University of Houston, the University

1-16     of the Incarnate Word, The University of Texas at San Antonio, and

1-17     Syracuse University; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Dr. Mayo's dedication to promoting the arts in the

1-19     San Antonio community has earned her the respect and admiration of

1-20     her family, friends, and colleagues, and her commitment to

1-21     excellence as an educator and administrator is indeed

1-22     inspirational; now, therefore, be it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-24     Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Sandra Mayo on her induction

 2-1     into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame and extend to her sincere

 2-2     best wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to

 2-3     come; and, be it further

 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-5     prepared for Dr. Mayo as an expression of high regard by the Texas

 2-6     House of Representatives.
