R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 recognize Harriet O'Banion Kelley on her induction into the San 1-3 Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kelley was honored for her contributions to the 1-5 arts, for, together with her husband, she has created one of the 1-6 nation's most outstanding collections of African-American artwork; 1-7 the couple have allowed their holdings to be displayed across the 1-8 country, and their generosity has given others abundant 1-9 opportunities to enjoy this unique exhibit; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kelley's noteworthy achievements have brought 1-11 her well-deserved acclaim, for she was named one of the top 100 art 1-12 collectors in the United States by Art and Antiques magazine and 1-13 was recently asked to assist in the selection of African-American 1-14 artwork for the White House; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Harriet Kelley has enhanced the quality of life in 1-16 our state and nation in myriad ways, and it gives the members of 1-17 this chamber distinct pleasure to recognize her on the occasion of 1-18 her most recent honor; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby commend Harriet O'Banion Kelley for her vast 1-21 contributions to the art world and extend to her heartfelt 1-22 congratulations on her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall 1-23 of Fame; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for Mrs. Kelley as an expression of high regard by the 2-2 Texas House of Representatives.
