No. 774 75R12877 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Carl David Clark on January 5, 1996, 1-2 at the age of 53, brought a great loss to the many friends and 1-3 relatives of this distinguished gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born August 13, 1942, in Borger, Texas, he was 1-5 graduated from North Texas State University and continued his 1-6 pursuit of academic excellence at the University of Arkansas, where 1-7 he attained a master's degree in international relations; in 1-8 addition, he was a distinguished graduate of the military's 1-9 Postgraduate Intelligence School; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Clark joined the United States Air Force and 1-11 served his country with the utmost distinction for 20 years, during 1-12 which time he received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in 1-13 combat as well as numerous accolades for superior performance, 1-14 including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force 1-15 Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Vietnam Service Medal 1-16 with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and others too numerous to mention; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, After teaching international affairs and military 1-19 studies at the University of New Hampshire, he was transferred to 1-20 the Pentagon in 1979, where he served as one of our nation's finest 1-21 intelligence analysts until his retirement from the military in 1-22 1985; and 1-23 WHEREAS, At that time, Mr. Clark accepted a position with 1-24 TRW's Space Defense Systems Group and later moved on to GTE 2-1 Government Systems; while at GTE, he was a highly valued member of 2-2 that organization and held the posts of team leader, analyst, and 2-3 author for the U.S. European Command Intelligence Communication 2-4 Architecture Project; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Also a devoted husband and father, he took great 2-6 pride in his family and particularly enjoyed traveling with them; 2-7 in addition, he was an active member of the Fairfax Church of 2-8 Christ and served the congregation as a deacon and an involved 2-9 participant in the church's youth activities; and 2-10 WHEREAS, Carl David Clark was a man of tremendous dedication 2-11 and honor; although his warmth and wisdom have been sorely missed, 2-12 his memory lives on in the hearts of the many people whose lives 2-13 he touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-15 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Carl David Clark and 2-16 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-17 Lafonda A. Clark; to his children, Jeffrey D. Clark, Shannon L. 2-18 Clark, and Tamara A. Clark; and to the many other friends and 2-19 relatives of this patriotic Texan; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-21 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-22 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-23 Carl David Clark.
