R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, July 15, 1997, marks the fourth anniversary of the

 1-2     passing of Clay Burton Peterson; and

 1-3           WHEREAS, Born July 14, 1973, in Beeville, he was reared in

 1-4     Portland and received his diploma from Gregory-Portland High School

 1-5     in 1991 before furthering his education at Del Mar College; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson was a well-rounded scholar who balanced

 1-7     the rigorous demands of his course load with his involvement in a

 1-8     variety of activities; he pursued his interests and talents both

 1-9     through his work with a local Christian television station and

1-10     through his participation in political activities, and in his free

1-11     time this avid sportsman also enjoyed jet-skiing on Lake Corpus

1-12     Christi; and

1-13           WHEREAS, When he was in high school, Mr. Peterson played

1-14     trombone in the marching band; he developed close friendships with

1-15     the other musicians in his section, who began the tradition of

1-16     annual camp-outs; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson's kind and gentle nature was evidenced

1-18     in all aspects of his life; by making time in his busy day to offer

1-19     comfort and fellowship to others, he will be fondly remembered as a

1-20     good samaritan; and

1-21           WHEREAS, The qualities that endeared him to so many emanated

1-22     from his devotion to the Lord and his shared faith with others as a

1-23     member of both the Baptist and Methodist Student Union groups at

1-24     Del Mar; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, During his lifetime, Clay Peterson touched the lives

 2-2     of many people, and as the fourth anniversary of his death

 2-3     approaches, it is indeed appropriate that we reflect on this fine

 2-4     young man's life; now, therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-6     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clay Burton Peterson

 2-7     and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his

 2-8     mother and stepfather, Lana Kay and Thomas H. Dillon, Sr.; to his

 2-9     stepmother and father, Sally and Paul B. Peterson; to his

2-10     stepsister, Shawnna M. Dillon; to his brother, George Fiegel; to

2-11     his two stepbrothers, Thomas H. Dillon, Jr., and T. James Dillon;

2-12     and to the many other friends and relatives of this esteemed Texan;

2-13     and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-15     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-16     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-17     Clay Burton Peterson.
