R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor

 1-2     Tim Santikos on his noteworthy achievement in attaining the rank of

 1-3     Eagle Scout, for he has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the

 1-4     high ideals of scouting and commendable perseverance in his pursuit

 1-5     of this worthy goal; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, The son of Sharon and Pete Santikos, this highly

 1-7     motivated young man has long been a source of great pride to his

 1-8     family and to his fellow scouts in Troop 604; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, After receiving his elementary education at St. Rose

1-10     of Lima School, he attended Seton Catholic Junior High School and

1-11     while a student there, he excelled at football and track, winning

1-12     Best All-Round Track Athlete in the 8th grade as well as several

1-13     ribbons and medals in track; he was also a member of the school

1-14     band and served on the yearbook staff; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Mr. Santikos is currently a senior at St. Pius X

1-16     High School in Houston, where he has continued to pursue a variety

1-17     of sports, such as tennis, volleyball, track, and football; he has

1-18     also built on his experience in journalism, having served last year

1-19     as assistant editor and this year as editor of his high school

1-20     newspaper and having been named the recipient of an academic award

1-21     for excellence in Journalism I; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Other high school organizations that have greatly

1-23     benefited from his presence include the Spanish Club, the

1-24     Philosophy Club, the Panther Mentors, the Junior Statesmen of

 2-1     America, the State Academic Team, and the Student Cabinet; after

 2-2     completing his high school studies, Eagle Scout Santikos plans to

 2-3     move to Huntsville next year to pursue his higher education at Sam

 2-4     Houston State University; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, A deeply religious individual, he is an active

 2-6     member of St. Rose of Lima Church, and has served the congregation

 2-7     both there and at Assumption Catholic Church as an altar server;

 2-8     additionally, he is a youth counselor team member for confirmation

 2-9     candidates; and

2-10           WHEREAS, Befitting his newly attained rank among scouting's

2-11     elite, Eagle Scout Santikos will be duly recognized for his

2-12     outstanding accomplishments and receive his silver insignia in a

2-13     ceremony to be held on May 10, 1997, at St. Stephen's United

2-14     Methodist Church in Houston, and it is indeed appropriate that he

2-15     receive special legislative recognition at this time; now,

2-16     therefore, be it

2-17           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-18     Legislature hereby congratulate Tim Santikos on attaining the rank

2-19     of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued

2-20     success with all his future endeavors; and, be it further

2-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-22     prepared for Mr. Santikos as an expression of high regard by the

2-23     Texas House of Representatives.
