No. 793 75R13227 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On September 29, 1996, members of St. Paul's 1-2 Lutheran Church of Nordheim celebrated 100 years of faithful 1-3 service to their community, and this momentous occasion is indeed 1-4 deserving of special recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The first Lutheran services held in Nordheim took 1-6 place in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schlosser, and in 1896, a 1-7 travelling missionary, Pastor Carl Freiling, was called to minister 1-8 to the community; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The church's first permanent house of worship was 1-10 built in 1909; through the years, there have been many additions to 1-11 the church complex, and lovely stained glass windows, called the 1-12 Trility Windows, were installed in the sanctuary nine years ago; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, Inspired leadership and an active congregation have 1-15 helped St. Paul's Lutheran Church to flourish over time, and it 1-16 has continued to play a vital role in the Nordheim community since 1-17 its founding; and 1-18 WHEREAS, For the past century, St. Paul's Lutheran Church has 1-19 provided outstanding spiritual leadership and moral guidance to the 1-20 members of its congregation; the church stands today as a tribute 1-21 to the dedication and hard work of those members, past and present, 1-22 who have devoted their time, energy, and resources to ensure its 1-23 continued existence as a house of God; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby honor St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Nordheim on 2-2 the momentous occasion of its centennial and commend the Reverend 2-3 Edwina Baethge and her congregation for the many significant 2-4 contributions they have made to the betterment of their community; 2-5 and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for St. Paul's Lutheran Church as an expression of high 2-8 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
