R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Marsha Cavell Lyle-Gonga will receive her master's

 1-2     degree in urban administration from Trinity University on May 10,

 1-3     1997, and the completion of this level of higher education is

 1-4     indeed an auspicious occasion; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Ms. Lyle-Gonga completed her bachelor's degree in

 1-6     political science and economics at Our Lady of the Lake University

 1-7     in San Antonio, earning inclusion in Who's Who in American Colleges

 1-8     and Universities in the process; at the graduate level, she was the

 1-9     recipient of a Department of Housing and Urban Development

1-10     scholarship and was a member of the Urban Management Assistants of

1-11     South Texas; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Despite her rigorous academic schedule, this

1-13     industrious woman managed to balance her studies with the

1-14     responsibilities of work, and she gained valuable professional

1-15     skills as an administrative assistant to Representative Ruth Jones

1-16     McClendon, who was then serving as a member of the San Antonio City

1-17     Council; Ms. Lyle-Gonga has also worked as a graduate intern with

1-18     the Clarksville Montgomery Chamber of Commerce in Clarksville,

1-19     Tennessee; and

1-20           WHEREAS, With this phase of her studies completed,

1-21     Ms. Lyle-Gonga is prepared to put her knowledge to work, and her

1-22     career plans are focused on a position in economic development,

1-23     planning, or research at the city government level; and

1-24           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily endorses

 2-1     the pursuit of higher education, and Ms. Lyle-Gonga's commitment in

 2-2     achieving this worthy goal is truly deserving of special

 2-3     legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby congratulate Marsha Cavell Lyle-Gonga on her

 2-6     graduation from the master's program at Trinity University and

 2-7     extend to her warmest best wishes for success and happiness in all

 2-8     her future endeavors; and, be it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for Ms. Lyle-Gonga as an expression of high regard by the

2-11     Texas House of Representatives.
