R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Lee Cochran has distinguished himself as a gifted

 1-2     educator and a dedicated public servant, and on the occasion of his

 1-3     retirement from the Richardson Independent School District (RISD)

 1-4     Board of Trustees it is indeed fitting to commend him for his many

 1-5     accomplishments; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Cochran

 1-7     received his bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at

 1-8     Austin before going on to earn a master's degree in education from

 1-9     the University of North Texas; since that time he has also

1-10     completed graduate work at The University of Texas at Dallas; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Cochran's career as a teacher in the Dallas

1-12     Independent School District spanned 30 years, and during his tenure

1-13     he held a number of positions, including those of social studies

1-14     instructor, department chair, and career ladder evaluator; and

1-15           WHEREAS, He has lent his breadth of experience as an

1-16     instructor and administrator to a number of professional groups; in

1-17     addition to his service on the RISD board, he has been a member of

1-18     the National Education Association, the Texas State Teachers

1-19     Association, and the American Association of School Administrators,

1-20     and in 1992 he was named a master trustee by the Texas  Association

1-21     of School Boards; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Mr. Cochran's contributions are not limited to the

1-23     field of education, and he has given freely of his time and talents

1-24     to such worthy organizations as the Dallas Opera Association, the

 2-1     Dallas Theater Center, the Dallas Zoo, and the First United

 2-2     Methodist Church of Richardson, where he is a member of the Men's

 2-3     Club; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Cochran has drawn

 2-5     strength and inspiration from his close-knit family, and he and his

 2-6     wife Pat take great pride and joy in their children Deborah and

 2-7     David; and

 2-8           WHEREAS, Lee Cochran's lifetime of service has benefited

 2-9     countless numbers of his fellow Texans, and his commitment to the

2-10     well-being of his community is indeed worthy of special praise and

2-11     recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it

2-12           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-13     Legislature hereby honor Lee Cochran on the occasion of his

2-14     retirement from the Richardson Independent School District Board of

2-15     Trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued

2-16     success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further

2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-18     prepared for Mr. Cochran as an expression of high regard by the

2-19     Texas House of Representatives.
