R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 17, 1997, Buck Breland will receive his

 1-2     master's degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public

 1-3     Affairs, and this auspicious occasion is indeed worthy of special

 1-4     praise and recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A legislative assistant to State Representative Glen

 1-6     Maxey, Mr. Breland has fulfilled the rigorous requirements of his

 1-7     academic program even while immersed in the demanding work

 1-8     environment of the legislative session, and it is a tribute to his

 1-9     outstanding abilities and commitment that he has been equally

1-10     successful in both these worthy endeavors; and

1-11           WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin,

1-12     Mr. Breland has brought a remarkable range of experience to his

1-13     work at the legislature, including substantive work for the Texas

1-14     Cancer Council and the Travis County Commissioners Court, and his

1-15     astute intelligence and keen political acumen will no doubt serve

1-16     him well throughout his career; and

1-17           WHEREAS, It is the hallmark of a vibrant and flourishing

1-18     democratic society that young people of proven talent and sound

1-19     character are drawn to public service as their life's work, and by

1-20     dedicating himself to this challenging vocation, Mr. Breland has

1-21     affirmed the highest ideals of civil society even as he works to

1-22     change it for the better; now, therefore, be it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-24     Legislature hereby congratulate Buck Breland on his graduation from

 2-1     the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and extend to him

 2-2     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the

 2-3     years to come; and, be it further

 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-5     prepared for Mr. Breland as an expression of high regard by the

 2-6     Texas House of Representatives.
