                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is indeed

 1-3     a memorable occasion worthy of honor and praise; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Johnny and Kathryn Watson of Southmayd recently had

 1-5     the privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their

 1-6     lives when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on

 1-7     April 19, 1997, with a reception in their honor hosted by their

 1-8     children and grandchildren; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, United in matrimony on April 18, 1947, in the

1-10     community of Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Watson have nurtured an enduring

1-11     relationship that has grown in love and understanding with each

1-12     passing year and that has been blessed with two children, John

1-13     Wayne Watson and Martha Kay Watson Boyd; and

1-14           WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Watson worked for

1-15     Fant Milling for 19 years and went on to manage several Gulf and

1-16     Exxon service stations in the Sherman area before his retirement in

1-17     1979; in addition to helping her husband operate the service

1-18     stations, Mrs. Watson held jobs with Hardwick and Etter and later

1-19     Fant Milling; and

1-20           WHEREAS, These esteemed Texans belong to the congregation of

1-21     Southmayd Baptist Church, and Mr. Watson is also a member of the

1-22     Masons and the Shriners; the couple treasure the time they spend

1-23     with their family, which has grown to include their

1-24     daughter-in-law, Brian Watson, and their son-in-law, Larry Boyd,

 2-1     as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and

 2-2           WHEREAS, For half a century, Johnny and Kathryn Watson have

 2-3     enjoyed a deeply rewarding marriage filled with many happy times

 2-4     and cherished family memories; their life together has been an

 2-5     inspiration to their family and friends, and they are indeed

 2-6     deserving of special legislative recognition at this time; now,

 2-7     therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby honor Johnny and Kathryn Watson on the occasion

2-10     of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best

2-11     wishes for many more years of continued success and happiness; and,

2-12     be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Watson as an expression of high regard by

2-15     the Texas House of Representatives.
