No. 820 75R13118 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of honor and praise; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Willie "Bill" and Jewell Dean Rumsey of Denison 1-5 recently had the privilege of commemorating such a momentous event 1-6 in their lives when they celebrated their golden wedding 1-7 anniversary with a family dinner party hosted by their children and 1-8 their children's spouses; and 1-9 WHEREAS, United in matrimony on April 14, 1947, at the 1-10 Calvary Baptist Church in Denison, Mr. and Mrs. Rumsey have 1-11 nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in love and 1-12 understanding with each passing year and that has been blessed with 1-13 four children, Rocky Rumsey, Paul Rumsey, Robert Rumsey, and Karla 1-14 Rumsey Miller; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Rumsey went on to 1-16 have a distinguished career as an air traffic controller at Perrin 1-17 Air Force Base, while Mrs. Rumsey worked as a bookkeeper; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The couple have established themselves as vital and 1-19 valued members of their community, and since retiring they treasure 1-20 the time they have now to spend with their family, which has grown 1-21 to include their daughters-in-law, Diana Rumsey, Sherry Rumsey, 1-22 and Karen Rumsey, their son-in-law, Ralph Miller, and their eight 1-23 beloved grandchildren; and 1-24 WHEREAS, For half a century, Willie "Bill" and Jewell Dean 2-1 Rumsey have enjoyed a deeply rewarding marriage filled with many 2-2 happy times and cherished family memories; their life together has 2-3 been an inspiration to their family and many friends, and they are 2-4 indeed deserving of special legislative recognition at this time; 2-5 now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby honor Willie "Bill" and Jewell Dean Rumsey on 2-8 the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them 2-9 warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success and 2-10 happiness; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rumsey as an expression of high regard by 2-13 the Texas House of Representatives.
