No. 822 75R13525 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Araceli Valdez is a bright and talented young Texan 1-2 who is quickly making a name for herself as an actress; and 1-3 WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Ms. Valdez developed her love 1-4 for acting while a student at Hanks High School, turning in 1-5 well-received performances in school productions of Splendor in the 1-6 Grass, Crimes of the Heart, and The Wiz; following her high school 1-7 graduation in 1992, she enrolled at The University of Texas at El 1-8 Paso and entered the GuyRex Mrs. Texas Contest, winning the crown 1-9 in 1994; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Her professional acting career began with a role on 1-11 the popular Mexican soap opera "Valentina," and she went on to play 1-12 Theresa on the American television show "Saved by the Bell: The 1-13 College Years"; she also has been featured in numerous national 1-14 television commercials and has guest-starred on series such as 1-15 "Renegade," "Silk Stalkings," and "The Bureau"; and 1-16 WHEREAS, In addition, this versatile young woman provided 1-17 Spanish narration for a CD-ROM on travel in Mexico, and she hosted 1-18 the Emmy Award-winning television series "L.A. Stories"; her career 1-19 will undoubtedly reach new highs with the release of her most 1-20 recent movie, a romantic comedy in which she plays a dental 1-21 assistant who works toward her dream of becoming a Broadway dancer 1-22 by teaching macarena dance classes in the evening; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Araceli Valdez has displayed remarkable 1-24 determination and poise in pursuit of her career goals, and the 2-1 members of this chamber are pleased to honor her as a distinguished 2-2 citizen of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Araceli Valdez on her career 2-5 success and extend to her warmest best wishes for continued 2-6 happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Ms. Valdez as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
