R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 13, 1997, Texans from across the state and

 1-2     representatives of James Hardie Building Products will gather to

 1-3     dedicate the company's new facility in Cleburne, and this

 1-4     noteworthy event is truly deserving of special praise and

 1-5     recognition; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Based in Australia, James Hardie Building Products

 1-7     is an international leader in non-asbestos fiber-cement building

 1-8     products and technology, and the firm's decision to locate its

 1-9     largest North American plant in Texas is an auspicious one for both

1-10     the company and the people of the Lone Star State; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Texas enjoys a reputation as a hospitable

1-12     environment for business, and corporate citizens of the size and

1-13     stature of James Hardie Building Products are welcome confirmation

1-14     of the state's success in attracting investment; and

1-15           WHEREAS, This newest asset to the city of Cleburne represents

1-16     a $65 million investment on the part of James Hardie Building

1-17     Products and is expected to employ approximately 165 workers by the

1-18     end of 1997, invigorating the local economy even while benefiting

1-19     from the industriousness and skill of the Texas workforce; and

1-20           WHEREAS, The dedication of the James Hardie Building Products

1-21     plant in Cleburne is an apt reflection of the mutually beneficial

1-22     relationships that have developed between corporations and

1-23     communities across the state, and the combined energies and

1-24     resources of this dynamic international firm and the people of

 2-1     Cleburne bode well for a bright future; now, therefore, be it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-3     Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the James Hardie

 2-4     Building Products facility in Cleburne and extend sincere best

 2-5     wishes to all those associated with this worthy endeavor.
