R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pleasure in

 1-2     recognizing James Aron Horn, who has recently been accepted into

 1-3     the United States Military Academy at West Point; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Founded in 1802, the prestigious United States

 1-5     Military Academy is noted for the excellence of the officers who

 1-6     graduate from this hallowed institution; to be accepted at West

 1-7     Point, a candidate must be nominated by designated officers or

 1-8     organizations; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Known for its strict standards and adherence to

1-10     tradition, West Point only accepts cadets between the ages of 17

1-11     and 22; at graduation, a cadet obtains a bachelor's degree and a

1-12     commission in the United States Army as a second lieutenant; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Very few students ever receive the honor of

1-14     attending West Point, and Jim Horn is one of only a handful from

1-15     Texas to be accepted in 1997; and

1-16           WHEREAS, An exemplary young man, Jim lives in Denton, Texas,

1-17     where he attends Liberty Christian School and is an honor student;

1-18     a well-rounded individual, he is president of the student body and

1-19     a letterman in both football and track; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Through hard work and determination over many years,

1-21     Jim has achieved the goal he set for himself, and he is known for

1-22     his pursuit of excellence in all his endeavors; now, therefore, be

1-23     it

1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-1     Legislature hereby congratulate James Aron Horn on his appointment

 2-2     to the United States Military Academy at West Point and extend to

 2-3     him best wishes for continued success with all his future

 2-4     endeavors; and, be it further

 2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for

 2-6     Mr. Horn as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of

 2-7     Representatives.
