R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, In March 1997, members of Dallas' Northpark 1-2 Missionary Baptist Church celebrated 33 years of faithful service 1-3 to the spiritual needs of their community, and this occasion is 1-4 indeed worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The church was organized in March 1964 by 19 charter 1-6 members, with the Reverend T. J. Prince as its first pastor; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Inspired leadership and an active membership have 1-8 helped Northpark Missionary Baptist Church to flourish over time, 1-9 and since its founding, the church has played a vital role in the 1-10 Dallas community; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The church is currently a member of the Northpark 1-12 Ministerial Alliance, whose goal is to perform outreach in the 1-13 community, and the church also assists area citizens through such 1-14 initiatives as Helping Hands and its women ministry; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition its dedicated congregation participates 1-16 in Jesus Uses Singles Too (JUST), Deepening Our Vows Everyday 1-17 (DOVE), the Brotherhood ministry, and the youth ministry, and their 1-18 remarkable service in behalf of others has been a source of 1-19 inspiration to many people; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, Northpark Missionary 1-21 Baptist Church has provided outstanding spiritual leadership and 1-22 moral guidance to its congregation; the church stands today as a 1-23 tribute to the dedication and hard work of its members, past and 1-24 present, who have devoted their time, energy, and resources to 2-1 ensure its continued existence as a house of God; now, therefore, 2-2 be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby honor Northpark Missionary Baptist Church on the 2-5 occasion of its 33rd anniversary and commend both its congregation 2-6 and staff, including Pastor Tommy L. Thompson, Assistant Pastor 2-7 Lewis Williams, Jr., Youth Minister Willie Dodd, Jr., and Associate 2-8 Minister Charles Scruggs, for the many significant contributions 2-9 they have made to the betterment of their community; and, be it 2-10 further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Northpark Missionary Baptist Church as an expression 2-13 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
