R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Virginia L. Garcia Pancake

 1-2     on April 5, 1996, at the age of 33, has brought a great loss to the

 1-3     many friends and relatives of this esteemed San Antonio educator;

 1-4     and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Born November 21, 1962, in Laredo, she was graduated

 1-6     from LaMarque High School and pursued her higher education at

 1-7     Southwest Texas State University, where she earned her bachelor's

 1-8     degree in elementary education and her master's of education in

 1-9     guidance and counseling; and

1-10           WHEREAS, "Ginny," as she was known to her family and friends,

1-11     was a staunch believer in the value of learning and brought both

1-12     enthusiasm and commitment to her duties as a third grade teacher at

1-13     Stahl Elementary School; in recognition of her profound

1-14     contributions to her students, a memorial fund has been established

1-15     at the school to purchase books; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Also a woman of deep and abiding religious

1-17     conviction, she shared her faith as an active member of the St.

1-18     Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Virginia L. Garcia Pancake was an inspirational

1-20     person who devoted her life to bringing happiness and knowledge to

1-21     others; although her warmth and wisdom are gone from us now, her

1-22     remarkable spirit will surely live on in the hearts of the many

1-23     people whose lives she touched during her time on this earth; now,

1-24     therefore, be it

 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-2     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Virginia L. Garcia

 2-3     Pancake and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:

 2-4     to her husband, Gregory Pancake; to her parents, Tomas and Julieta

 2-5     Garcia; to her sister, sister-in-law, and brothers, Leticia, Tomas

 2-6     and his wife Juanita, and Rosendo Garcia; to her grandmother, Anita

 2-7     N. Garcia; and to the many other friends and relatives of this

 2-8     beloved woman; and, be it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas

2-11     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-12     Virginia L. Garcia Pancake.
