R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Denton Liberty Christian High School Warriors 1-2 football team has achieved the pinnacle of success by winning the 1-3 inaugural Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 1-4 (TAPPS) Class 4A State Football Championship; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Warriors started the 1996 campaign by winning 1-6 all of their district games, and the team remained undefeated 1-7 during the playoff series as they grabbed for and seized the brass 1-8 ring of high school football; and 1-9 WHEREAS, With the ultimate prize at stake, Denton Liberty 1-10 Christian faced its second former state champion in as many weeks, 1-11 taking on the 1993 Class 1A titleholder, Dallas Tyler Street 1-12 Christian Academy; the Warriors, however, proved up to the task, 1-13 dominating their opponent 51-0 to claim the coveted state crown; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, Head Coach Mark Bowles has honed his players' skills 1-16 while instilling in them the unshakeable belief that they could 1-17 capture the first-ever TAPPS Class 4A State Football Championship; 1-18 Coach Bowles has led the Warriors to 12 district championship 1-19 titles in the past 13 years, and during the course of its 1-20 championship season, the team celebrated its 100th victory; and 1-21 WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men and their coaches 1-22 and staff are a tremendous source of pride for the students and 1-23 faculty of Denton Liberty Christian High School and their many 1-24 supporters in the community, and their exceptional accomplishments 2-1 have rightfully earned them special legislative recognition; now, 2-2 therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Head Coach Mark Bowles and the 2-5 Denton Liberty Christian High School Warriors football team on 2-6 winning the inaugural TAPPS Class 4A State Championship and extend 2-7 to them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in 2-8 the years to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for the members of the team and coaching staff as an 2-11 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
