R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 15, 1997, David H. Hitt will be honored by 1-2 his colleagues at the Methodist Hospitals of Dallas for his 1-3 outstanding service in the field of health care, and it is indeed 1-4 fitting on this noteworthy occasion to recognize him for his many 1-5 accomplishments; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Currently the president emeritus of Methodist 1-7 Hospitals of Dallas, Mr. Hitt acted as president and chief 1-8 executive officer of the organization from 1984 to 1996; his tenure 1-9 was characterized by vigorous growth and development into one of 1-10 the nation's preeminent health care providers, and under his astute 1-11 stewardship Methodist Hospitals constructed $125 million in new 1-12 facilities; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The esteem in which Mr. Hitt is held by his 1-14 professional peers is evident from the many honors he has been 1-15 accorded; a recipient of the Rotary International Certificate of 1-16 Recognition for Ethical Conduct in Business, he has also received 1-17 the American Hospital Association's Distinguished Service Award and 1-18 the American College of Healthcare Executives' Gold Medal Award for 1-19 Excellence and Leadership in Healthcare Management, and he has been 1-20 listed in Who's Who in Health and Who's Who in America; and 1-21 WHEREAS, David Hitt has dedicated his life to the health and 1-22 well-being of his fellow citizens, and his many remarkable 1-23 contributions to the common good are indeed worthy of special 1-24 praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby honor David H. Hitt for his many contributions 2-3 to the community and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-4 continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Mr. Hitt as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-7 House of Representatives.
