R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, William and Jean McKinney will have the privilege of 1-5 commemorating such an event in their lives when they celebrate 1-6 their golden wedding anniversary on May 11, 1997; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The pair met on a blind date in August 1946; they 1-8 quickly discovered that they were meant to spend the rest of their 1-9 lives together and became engaged in the following January; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Since sharing their wedding vows at Pleasant Grove 1-11 Christian Church, the McKinneys have nurtured an enduring 1-12 relationship that has grown in love and understanding with each 1-13 passing year and that has been blessed with two children, Linda 1-14 Jean and Karl Allan; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Now surrounded by a loving family that has grown to 1-16 include their children's spouses, Larry Maxwell and Jenny McKinney, 1-17 and their beloved grandchildren, Andrea and Shelby Wolf, Thomas 1-18 Maxwell, Kandace McKinney, and Krystal McKinney, the McKinneys 1-19 still look forward to each day with the same enthusiasm that first 1-20 sparked their romance many years ago; and 1-21 WHEREAS, For half a century, William and Jean McKinney have 1-22 shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times 1-23 and cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of 1-24 mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage is a source of joy 2-1 and inspiration to the many friends and family of this fortunate 2-2 pair; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate William and Jean McKinney on the 2-5 occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them 2-6 warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. McKinney as an expression of high regard 2-9 by the Texas House of Representatives.
