R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Allison B. Ramsay of Mount Vernon on her graduation from Mount
1-3 Vernon High School; born August 19, 1977, she is the daughter of
1-4 Representative Thomas Donald Ramsay and Laurie Manning Ramsay; and
1-5 WHEREAS, During her years at Mount Vernon High School, she
1-6 set a pattern of high academic achievement and leadership that has
1-7 become her trademark, serving as president of her class during her
1-8 sophomore and junior years and as vice president her freshman and
1-9 senior years; in addition, she was president of the National Honor
1-10 Society, graduated near the top of her class, and held leadership
1-11 positions on the student council; and
1-12 WHEREAS, This well-rounded scholar balanced the rigorous
1-13 demands of her course work with membership on the varsity
1-14 basketball and track teams and the cheerleading squad, where she
1-15 was head cheerleader; voted Outstanding Female Athlete for
1-16 1995/1996, she was selected to the Basketball All-District Academic
1-17 Team and was named to the First Team All-District in basketball as
1-18 well; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Ms. Ramsay was recognized for her hard work and
1-20 school spirit with many accolades and was voted Senior Class
1-21 Favorite, Most Friendly, and Most Likely to Succeed; she was also
1-22 elected Prom Queen and crowned Football Sweetheart of the 1995
1-23 Varsity Football Team; and
1-24 WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Ramsay gave generously of her time
2-1 and talents to assist with several community activities; she
2-2 helped to organize an Easter celebration for local youth, prepared
2-3 gift baskets for the elderly and infirm, and participated in
2-4 numerous clothing and canned food drives to aid those in need; and
2-5 WHEREAS, Highly regarded for her warm and caring demeanor,
2-6 she won the Miss Congeniality Trophy at the Miss Mount Vernon
2-7 Pageant; and
2-8 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she has been sustained by a
2-9 deep and abiding faith as a member of First Baptist Church, and she
2-10 shared her devotion with others as a Kiowa princess at Kamp
2-11 Kanakuk, where she was the leader and spiritual guide for 120 girls
2-12 during the June 1996 term; and
2-13 WHEREAS, Allison Ramsay is a rare person who gives back to
2-14 the world much more than she asks of it; her lively intelligence
2-15 and gracious manner have enriched the lives of all who know her,
2-16 and she is indeed deserving of our special praise and recognition
2-17 at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-19 Legislature hereby congratulate Allison B. Ramsay on her graduation
2-20 from Mount Vernon High School and extend to her warmest best wishes
2-21 for continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors;
2-22 and, be it further
2-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-24 prepared for Ms. Ramsay as an expression of high regard by the
2-25 Texas House of Representatives.
