No. 867 75R14622 JTR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 9, 1997, Dian Hawkins Schneider is visiting 1-2 the State Capitol, and it is indeed a pleasure to welcome her at 1-3 this time; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Ms. Schneider was born in Ennis to 1-5 Joe and Edna Hawkins, and she was a popular drum majorette at Ennis 1-6 High School, where she was voted "Best All Around" in her senior 1-7 class; and 1-8 WHEREAS, After graduating from Baylor University with a 1-9 degree in drama and a teaching certificate, she pursued graduate 1-10 work at Hardin-Simmons University, earning a master's degree, and 1-11 embarked on a career as an English teacher at Marshall Junior High 1-12 in Houston; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Ms. Schneider continues to make great contributions 1-14 to her community, serving as a docent at the Dallas Museum of Art 1-15 and teaching English as a second language, and countless young 1-16 Texans have benefited from her remarkable breadth of knowledge and 1-17 her infectious love of learning; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Ms. Schneider has taken great 1-19 joy and strength from her three children, Susan Megan Schneider, 1-20 Erin Davis Dickinson, and Robert Schneider, Jr., and they know her 1-21 first and foremost as a devoted mother and friend; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Dian Hawkins Schneider has distinguished herself as 1-23 an outstanding educator, a public-spirited citizen, and as a role 1-24 model and inspiration to her children and her many friends, and it 2-1 is indeed fitting to honor her many accomplishments at this time; 2-2 now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby welcome Dian Hawkins Schneider to the Capitol 2-5 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and 2-6 happiness in the future; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Ms. Schneider as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
