R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Jamon Williams of San 1-2 Antonio on April 17, 1997, at the age of 18, has brought a great 1-3 loss to the many friends and relatives of this exceptional young 1-4 man; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Blessed with an irresistible smile and an 1-6 affectionate nature, Jamon was a treasured member of his family and 1-7 a constant source of delight and inspiration to his friends and 1-8 classmates; and 1-9 WHEREAS, He attended L. B. Johnson Elementary School, and 1-10 continued his education at Holy Cross Junior and Senior High 1-11 Schools before becoming a student at Memorial High School; while 1-12 attending Memorial, he was ranked in the top 15 percent of his 1-13 class, was a Presidential Classroom Scholar, and had been accepted 1-14 for admission at six colleges; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition to his academic achievements at Memorial 1-16 High School, he was president of the Black Student Union and 1-17 demonstrated outstanding leadership and athletic ability as a 1-18 co-captain of the basketball team; his consistent excellence on the 1-19 court earned him a place on the 27-4A District Basketball Team; and 1-20 WHEREAS, He was also an active member of the St. Gabriel 1-21 Catholic Church, where he served his fellow worshipers as an altar 1-22 boy; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Jamon Williams was an intelligent, responsible, 1-24 caring young man who faced a future bright with promise; although 2-1 his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will surely live on 2-2 in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched during his 2-3 time on this earth; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jamon Williams and 2-6 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-7 parents, Bruce W. Williams and Vanessa Cromer-Williams; to his 2-8 brother, Bruce Williams II; to his grandparents, Mr. and 2-9 Mrs. Charles Cromer and Mr. and Mrs. John Williams; to his 2-10 great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cromer and Blanche Elzy; 2-11 and to the many other friends and relatives of this beloved young 2-12 Texan; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-15 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-16 Jamon Williams.
