R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Camp Charles F. Perry in Rio Hondo, Texas, on its 70th anniversary; 1-3 and 1-4 WHEREAS, Established in 1927 on the banks of the Arroyo 1-5 Colorado River, the camp was located on ten acres of property 1-6 provided by Charles F. Perry, who also financed the construction of 1-7 the original two-story lodge; in addition, Mr. Perry donated a 1-8 tract of land adjacent to the camp which is now used by the Rio 1-9 Grande Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The camp was first opened to the Boy Scouts in the 1-11 summer of 1928, and since that time Camp Perry has been a 1-12 tremendous asset to scouts throughout the area; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Exploring and enjoying the majesty of open country 1-14 is at the heart of the scouting experience; for seven decades Camp 1-15 Charles F. Perry has afforded countless scouts the opportunity to 1-16 enjoy the out of doors, and it is indeed appropriate that this 1-17 venerable campsite be given special legislative recognition at this 1-18 time; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby honor Camp Charles F. Perry on its 70th 1-21 anniversary and congratulate those individuals, past and present, 1-22 whose efforts have ensured the camp's success during its first 70 1-23 years.
