No. 889 75R13959 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 years of marriage is truly a memorable occasion 1-3 worthy of special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The Reverend and Mrs. Sterling Henry Wood, Jr., of 1-5 Victoria will have the privilege of commemorating such an event in 1-6 their lives when they celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on 1-7 May 30, 1997; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The couple met when they were both students at Ozark 1-9 Bible College, and they made a lasting commitment to each other 1-10 when they exchanged wedding vows in Joplin, Missouri; since that 1-11 time, they have nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in 1-12 love and understanding and they have enriched not only their own 1-13 lives but the lives of those around them with their devotion to 1-14 each other; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Reverend and Mrs. Wood are the proud parents of five 1-16 children and the grandparents of eight grandchildren, each of whom 1-17 has been a source of great joy for the couple; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Reverend Wood is a retired pastor who ministered in 1-19 New Mexico before coming to Texas, while Mildred Wood was employed 1-20 in the banking and insurance industries until her retirement; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Now deservedly reaping the many benefits of a full 1-22 life together, the Woods find they have more time to enjoy fishing, 1-23 and Reverend Wood has also kept busy working on carpentry projects; 1-24 and 2-1 WHEREAS, For half a century, Reverend and Mrs. Wood have 2-2 shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times 2-3 and cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of 2-4 mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage is a source of joy 2-5 and inspiration to the many friends and family of this fortunate 2-6 pair; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend and Mrs. Sterling 2-9 Henry Wood, Jr., on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary 2-10 and extend to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; 2-11 and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for Reverend and Mrs. Wood as an expression of high regard 2-14 by the Texas House of Representatives.
