                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor

 1-2     Michael Hewett, a student at Lubbock's Monterey High School, on his

 1-3     exemplary showing at the 10th annual Texas Career and Technology

 1-4     Education Awards Program; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Cosponsored by the Texas Career and Technology

 1-6     Council and the Vocational-Technical Education Development

 1-7     Foundation of Texas, the program recognizes outstanding achievement

 1-8     by students in career and technology education, alumni of those

 1-9     programs, and public or private sector partnerships of business,

1-10     industry, and labor organizations that support such initiatives;

1-11     and

1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Hewett was selected as a finalist in the

1-13     Outstanding Industrial Technology Student category; by excelling in

1-14     his studies, this dedicated young man has demonstrated his desire

1-15     and ability to achieve his highest potential as he prepares for his

1-16     future role in society; and

1-17           WHEREAS, His accomplishment serves as a source of inspiration

1-18     to his peers at Monterey High School as well as a shining example

1-19     of the rewards that can be attained from hard work and

1-20     self-discipline; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Michael Hewett has demonstrated exceptional

1-22     intelligence, initiative, and maturity in pursuing his goals, and

1-23     it is most fitting that he receive special legislative recognition

1-24     for his noteworthy performance; now, therefore, be it

 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-2     Legislature hereby congratulate Michael Hewett on being named a

 2-3     finalist for Outstanding Industrial Technology Student at the Texas

 2-4     Career and Technology Education Awards Program and extend to him

 2-5     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness in the

 2-6     future; and, be it further

 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-8     prepared for Mr. Hewett as an expression of high regard by the

 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
