                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Klein High School Bearkats boys soccer team has

 1-2     captured the 1997 University Interscholastic League (UIL) State

 1-3     Championship, and this accomplishment is indeed deserving of

 1-4     special legislative recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, The Bearkats defeated Grapevine High School by a

 1-6     score of 3-1 in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Texas State

 1-7     UIL playoffs in Pflugerville; Klein finished its season with an

 1-8     impressive 27-2-0 record and with a number two national ranking;

 1-9     and

1-10           WHEREAS, Head Coach Allen Baker, Klein High School's soccer

1-11     coach for the past 15 years, has developed a team of players

1-12     committed to excellence both on and off the field; his dynamic

1-13     leadership helped to ensure that the team remained competitive

1-14     throughout the season while staying focused on its goal of a state

1-15     title; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Coach Baker has been ably assisted in his efforts by

1-17     Assistant Coach Victor Sobotik as well as Manager Seth Gould and

1-18     Trainer David Cline; additional support from Principal Bob Grove

1-19     and Athletic Director Ray Kenjura has proved immeasurably

1-20     beneficial; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Dedication to excellence both individually and as a

1-22     team has been a hallmark of the Bearkats, whose team members

1-23     include Bubba Beyer, Issiah Davis, Sean Fitzpatrick, Sean

1-24     O'Donnell, Chris Peirce, Alton Perry, J. R. Pouncey, Davis Bland,

 2-1     Ricky Galdamez, Mike Heider, Roger Herman, Jon Durzenberger, Jarvis

 2-2     Lemon, Brendon O'Donnell, Brandon Reagan, Aaron Rubin, Chad Smith,

 2-3     Mike Spillane, B. J. Vail, Brian Beckering, Chris Goos, Martin

 2-4     Hutton, and Jesse Shulse; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, These talented young men, as well as their coaches

 2-6     and staff, are a tremendous source of pride for the students and

 2-7     faculty of Klein High School, and it is a privilege to join their

 2-8     many supporters in the community in honoring them at this time;

 2-9     now, therefore, be it

2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-11     Legislature hereby congratulate Head Coach Allen Baker and the

2-12     Klein High School boys soccer team on winning the 1997 UIL State

2-13     Championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued

2-14     success in all their future endeavors; and, be it further

2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-16     prepared for the team and coaching staff as an expression of high

2-17     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
