R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Professor Lynn F. Anderson is retiring from his 1-2 career with the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs at 1-3 The University of Texas at Austin, drawing to a close a 1-4 distinguished tenure with the university that has spanned 51 years; 1-5 in recognition of his stalwart service, the school is hosting a 1-6 retirement dinner in his honor on May 24, 1997; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Since 1946, Professor Anderson has held a variety of 1-8 teaching, research, and administrative positions with The 1-9 University of Texas, including the directorship of the Institute of 1-10 Public Affairs before the L.B.J. School opened in 1970, and he has 1-11 shared his extensive knowledge in the areas of public management 1-12 and finance, state, local, and urban affairs, and health policy 1-13 with tomorrow's leaders; and 1-14 WHEREAS, In addition to his academic responsibilities, 1-15 Professor Anderson has pioneered the development and conduct of 1-16 continuing education and professional development programs for 1-17 public officials, and for 17 years he was director of the Office of 1-18 Conferences and Training at the L.B.J. School; this esteemed 1-19 educator is also the author or coauthor of more than 70 1-20 publications, and he founded and for many years edited the school's 1-21 periodical, Public Affairs Comment; and 1-22 WHEREAS, An acknowleged leader in his chosen field, Professor 1-23 Anderson has regularly held public service assignments outside the 1-24 university as a consultant to numerous governmental entities and as 2-1 a member of advisory and study commissions at all levels of 2-2 government, and he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas as a 2-3 public member of the board of the State Bar of Texas; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Lynn Anderson has enhanced the quality of education 2-5 in our state in countless ways, and he is indeed worthy of special 2-6 praise and recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Professor Lynn F. Anderson on his 2-9 outstanding service with the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public 2-10 Affairs and extend to him warmest best wishes for a happy and 2-11 rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-13 prepared for Professor Anderson as an expression of high regard by 2-14 the Texas House of Representatives.
