No. 918 75R14793 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Fort Worth's Anna Diaz has completed the Math and 1-2 Science for Minority Students (MS)2 program at Phillips Academy in 1-3 Andover, Massachusetts, and the members of this chamber are proud 1-4 to honor this noteworthy achievement; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A Tandy Scholar and member of the National Honor 1-6 Society, Ms. Diaz attends Dunbar High School, where she actively 1-7 pursues her interest in sports medicine; she has served as manager 1-8 for the varsity football team and was selected to attend the 1-9 National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in 1996; and 1-10 WHEREAS, This remarkable young lady is a member of the 1-11 National Hispanic Institute, and has participated in the Young 1-12 Leaders Conference, the Collegiate World Series, and the Lorenzo de 1-13 Zavala Youth Legislature; in addition, she is the recipient of a 1-14 number of awards in algebra, chemistry, and physical education and 1-15 is a respected member of the Dunbar High School student body; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Phillips Academy offers minority students from the 1-17 United States an opportunity to fine-tune their math and science 1-18 skills in a program that takes place over the course of three 1-19 consecutive summers; the prestigious program encourages selected 1-20 students to apply the knowledge that they acquire through the 1-21 program to a variety of math-related and science-related fields; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, Anna Diaz has demonstrated a desire to excel in the 1-24 academic environment as well as a willingness to apply the skills 2-1 she has learned as a member of the (MS)2 program to real-world 2-2 situations, and her commitment to excellence in this regard is 2-3 truly exemplary; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate Anna Diaz on her completion of 2-6 Phillips Academy's Math and Science for Minority Students (MS)2 2-7 program and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success 2-8 and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Ms. Diaz as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-11 House of Representatives.
