R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, For many years, the San Antonio community has

 1-2     benefited from the vision and leadership of Lorraine Reagan, and

 1-3     her receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award for professional service

 1-4     from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus provides a most fitting

 1-5     opportunity to honor her for her commitment; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Ms. Reagan was graduated from Huston-Tillotson

 1-7     College with a bachelor's degree in sociology before earning a

 1-8     master's degree in guidance and counseling from Prairie View A&M

 1-9     University; and

1-10           WHEREAS, A former classroom teacher, she embarked in 1973 on

1-11     a rewarding career with the Bexar County Mental Health and Mental

1-12     Retardation Department as a caseworker, in which capacity she

1-13     handled a host of important duties and touched the lives of

1-14     countless individuals in need; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Ms. Reagan later joined the staff of the Salvation

1-16     Army Home for Girls as a social worker, and she served as a

1-17     positive influence in the lives of many young women during her

1-18     tenure there by assisting them with goal setting and providing them

1-19     with counseling; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Since 1981, she has been a valued employee of the

1-21     Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department; she began her tenure as

1-22     a probation officer and rose through the ranks to become interim

1-23     supervisor of the department's Northwest Unit this year; and

1-24           WHEREAS, Ms. Reagan has also worked for the betterment of her

 2-1     community through her involvement with the Texas Education Agency's

 2-2     Juvenile Probation Commission and the National Coalition of 100

 2-3     Black Women, Inc., and her remarkable dedication has earned her the

 2-4     respect and admiration of many people; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, Lorraine Reagan has enhanced the quality of life in

 2-6     San Antonio in numerous ways, and her stalwart service is truly a

 2-7     source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know her; now,

 2-8     therefore, be it

 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-10     Legislature hereby honor Lorraine Reagan for her exemplary

2-11     professional involvement and extend to her heartfelt

2-12     congratulations on her receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award from

2-13     the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-15     prepared for Ms. Reagan as an expression of high regard by the

2-16     Texas House of Representatives.
