R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Oscar L. Vicks has demonstrated a deep commitment to
1-2 the San Antonio community as a candidate for the city council, and
1-3 his efforts are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition;
1-4 and
1-5 WHEREAS, A democratic form of government depends on the
1-6 informed participation of its people, and foremost among the
1-7 system's participants are those dedicated men and women who are
1-8 willing to make the sacrifices necessary to take on the role of
1-9 public servant; and
1-10 WHEREAS, The demands of the electoral process are great, and
1-11 candidates may continually find their resolve threatened during the
1-12 many twists and turns of the campaign trail; yet the difficulty of
1-13 this process is rivalled only by its importance, for it is through
1-14 the vigorous and public debate about issues that the seeds of
1-15 progress are sown; and
1-16 WHEREAS, In taking on this difficult challenge, Oscar L.
1-17 Vicks has joined the proud tradition of citizen leadership that has
1-18 been our nation's trademark for more than two centuries, and he can
1-19 take justifiable pride in the role that he has played in this noble
1-20 legacy; now, therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby commend Oscar L. Vicks for his exemplary civic
1-23 involvement and extend to him warmest best wishes for the future;
1-24 and, be it further
2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-2 prepared for Mr. Vicks as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-3 House of Representatives.
