No. 947 75R14209 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Jo Ann McCall was recently designated by the Texas 1-2 Legislative Black Caucus as an Outstanding Texan and this honor is 1-3 indeed well deserved; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This notable Texan has been an employee with a 1-5 number of respected enterprises, such as Southern Music Co., 1-6 Southwestern Bell, United Service Advisory, and USAA, and she has 1-7 brought to each position the tireless work ethic and drive to excel 1-8 that are the hallmark of all her many efforts; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In recent years, she has become an active and 1-10 dynamic force in the political arena, having served as campaign 1-11 manager for Mary Ramon and the Honorable Ruth Jones McClendon, and 1-12 as manager of the Eastside office for President Bill Clinton during 1-13 his 1992 campaign; and 1-14 WHEREAS, She has also held the office of secretary of the 1-15 Democratic Party, is a member of the Bexar County chapter of Texas 1-16 Democratic Women, Women's Political Caucus, N.A.A.C.P., Alamo 1-17 Chamber of Commerce, and is a member and former vice president of 1-18 the San Antonio Democratic League; and 1-19 WHEREAS, A person of deep and abiding religious conviction, 1-20 she is an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church and the Young 1-21 Adult Mission; Ms. McCall is also a former Sunday school teacher 1-22 and has held the offices of president and vice president of the 1-23 Voice of Antioch; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Jo Ann McCall has devoted her life to the betterment 2-1 of her fellowman as a community leader and an active participant in 2-2 the political system and her many notable accomplishments are 2-3 indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby congratulate Jo Ann McCall on being named an 2-7 Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and, be it 2-8 further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Jo Ann McCall as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
