                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, With the observance of her 100th birthday on June

 1-2     20, 1997, Lottie Beatrice Sprouse will commemorate a significant

 1-3     milestone in her long and fruitful life; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, The second of 11 children born to Joseph and Hattie

 1-5     Riley, Mrs. Sprouse grew up on a farm in Collin County; she wed Lee

 1-6     Sprouse on August 11, 1920, and the couple treasured the time they

 1-7     shared until his passing; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Mrs. Sprouse is the proud mother of four children,

 1-9     Milton Riley, Ruby, Hattie, and Esta, and she currently shares her

1-10     time between her daughters' homes in Waco and in Denison; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Granny Blue, her family has

1-12     grown to include 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren

1-13     and great-great-grandchildren; she has been a pillar of support to

1-14     the entire family, and her loving presence has kept her clan a

1-15     close one; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Throughout her rewarding lifetime, Lottie Sprouse

1-17     has brought joy and happiness to the many people whose lives she

1-18     has touched; a greatly admired member of her community,

1-19     Mrs. Sprouse has earned the special love and affection of all who

1-20     are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it

1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate Lottie Beatrice Sprouse on the

1-23     occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her warmest best

1-24     wishes for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it further

 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-2     prepared for Mrs. Sprouse as an expression of high regard by the

 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
